WVMA Committees
Animal Welfare
Reviews WVMA and AVMA positions on animal welfare and recommends policy changes to the WVMA Executive Board on animal welfare issues.
Awards and Recognition
Receives nominations and nominates recipients for Meritorious Service Award, Friend of Veterinary Medicine Award and other recognitions. Selects the Veterinarian of the Year recipient.
Budget and Auditing
Recommends allocations for the next year’s budget and reviews financial statements. Meets during the year to review budget process.
By-laws and SOP
Reviews the written mandate for WVMA activities and recommends possible changes or alterations.
Convention
Plans the WVMA’s annual continuing education offering. It arranges speakers and organizes convention events.
Executive
Is responsible for making time-sensitive decisions in-between executive board meetings.
Grievance
Mediates complaints from the public and between members.
Large Animal Welfare Subcommittee
Developing position statements and guidelines to enhance animal welfare on farms.
Legislative
Maintains the WVMA liaison with regulatory agencies and keeps the executive board advised on legislative matters which deserve WVMA attention.
Membership and Member Services
Responsible for developing membership recruitment activities, membership retention strategies and prospective member services.
Nominating
Solicits nominations for president-elect.
Personnel
Reviews the performance, compensations and duties of the executive director and makes recommendations to the executive board. It also reviews the executive director's evaluations of other WVMA staff and makes recommendations.
Public Education and Marketing
Provides the public with information in order to increase its awareness and uses of veterinary medical services while increasing economic opportunities for veterinarians.
Public Health and Food Safety
Provides guidance for Wisconsin citizens, public agencies and allied health professionals concerning public health and the safety of foods of animal origin.
Veterinary Technicians Advisory
Advisory committee to MATC Veterinary Technician Program. Works to support the training and certification of veterinary technicians.
