WVMA benefits

Representation
The voice of many is more powerful than the voice of one. The WVMA represents the interests of more than 2,100 veterinarians. This is a powerful voice that gets work done to benefit you in the legislature and other government bodies. The passage of legislation to require a veterinary license to castrate dogs and cats, as well as allowing CVTs to give rabies vaccinations when veterinarians are on premises, illustrates how effective the WVMA Legislative Network can be at representing your interests.

Participation
The WVMA is for veterinarians, run by veterinarians. The executive board looks out for your interests through committees that focus on areas such as legislation, public health and food safety, animal welfare, grievance mediation, public education and marketing, member services and more. When a key issue in veterinary medicine surfaces, members have peace of mind knowing a group of their peers are working to address it.

Resources
The WVMA News
Our award-winning monthly newsletter provides the latest Wisconsin information, including rules, laws, updates on key issues, and classified ads at little or no cost to members.

www.wvma.org
The WVMA's website helps members in two key ways: It is a positive advertisement to the public for veterinary medicine, including a listing of all veterinary clinics in the Find-A-Veterinarian search. The “Members Only” section includes a wealth of information for you, including answers to commonly asked questions, the membership directory, practice act, and links to other valuable sites.

Educational materials
WVMA members take advantage of reduced rates on nationally recognized educational materials such as the “FOCUS on client communications” resource manual, “Living Compatibly with Dogs” coloring books, the “Cows Need Doctors, Too!” video and educational materials package. The WVMA educational traveling display can be borrowed by any member.

WVMA staff
The WVMA staff is dedicated and eager to help answer your questions or find resources for you. They are only a toll-free phone call, or an e-mail away.

Emergency communication
Product recalls, BSE, West Nile Virus, Avian Influenza - the world can be a risky place without the most current information. One goal of the WVMA is to inform members of emerging issues before clients or the press begin asking questions.

Interaction
The WVMA offers opportunities to expand your network and build professional relationships that can benefit you and your practice.

Annual convention and Winter Retreat
At WVMA continuing education events, you can stay on top of veterinary medicine in Wisconsin by meeting with your colleagues and hearing top notch, nationally known speakers at the same time.
