WVMA HACCP for Proper Drug Use Program

The WVMA Food Armor™ HACCP for Proper Drug Use is a six-step plan addressing both food safety and long-term proper drug use on dairies. The WVMA HACCP for Proper Drug Use is based on farm-by-farm implementation and requires the veterinarian to work closely with owners, managers and employees when defining specific roles within the VCPR, protocols and SOPs.

The WVMA Food Armor™ HACCP For Proper Drug Use is comprised of six steps:
1) Veterinarian/Client/Patient Relationship (VCPR) – identifying the VCPR team, 2) Drug List – finding all drugs used and how they are used, 3) Protocols – developing protocols based on the farm and skill sets of employees 4) SOPs – developing SOPs based on the farm and skill sets of employees, 5) Records – defining what needs to be recorded, and 6) Oversight – veterinary oversight to evaluate drug use, protocol/SOPs drift, and management/economic information.

The Outreach Specialist for the Food ArmorTM WVMA HACCP for Proper Drug Use program will be responsible for training, presenting, continuing to develop materials, supporting program participants, identifying and obtaining funding sources for the program, and other responsibilities as required.

FT Professional Services DVM - IL & Southern WI

Key responsibilities include: collection and transfer of bovine in vivo embryos, perform ultrasound guided transvaginal ovum pickup procedures for IVF embryo production, review and design superovulation and synchronization protocols for donors and recipients, evaluate pregnancy status and fetal gender using ultrasonography, and assist embryologists in lab activities.
