Applied Animal Behavior
Hits : 258

Saturday, Feb. 8:
Dr. John Ciribassi, DVM, DACVB and Dr. Terri Derr, DVM both own behavior specialty practices in the Midwest. Dr. Ciribassi will teach you how to read dogs’ body language for clues on their internal state, and how to differentiate between the types of aggression dogs will display. He will also describe how he approaches the treatment of separation anxiety, one of the most difficult conditions dog owners and veterinarians face. Dr. Terri Derr will discuss how to get started in behavior practice even if you aren’t boarded. She will go over how to do a basic behavior consultation,

and how to prevent behavior problems in the first place through appropriate socialization and preventative counseling.

Sunday, Feb. 9:
Learn the latest in Applied Animal Welfare from two experts in the field. Dr. Judi Stella will explain how animals’ environments will affect their behavior and how this plays into welfare issues, especially in regards to cats confined to cages (as is the case with many felines in treatment!). World-famous Dr. Temple Grandin will discuss her unique understanding of animal behavior and how we can apply this insight to improve animal welfare, mitigate stress, and design appropriate facilities for animal handling.
