Rural Veterinarians: Don’t Leave Money on the Table

On Friday, October 11, the Wisconsin veterinary community will converge on the Milwaukee County Zoo for Zoo School—a unique educational and social event created by the WVMA in partnership with the wonderful team that makes the Zoo a fantastic place to visit.

Attend one of the intimate animal experiences designed specifically for our WVMA community. Participants will receive behind-the-scenes access to zookeepers who will hone in on topics of interest. Then, it’s time to head off to school for relevant and timely CE sessions on small animal, large animal, and equine topics. Earn up to five scientific CE credits for the day. If passed, legislation proposed in Wisconsin often impacts how you practice veterinary medicine. This is why advocating for veterinary medicine is one of the most important services the WVMA provides to members. Listen to Jordan Lamb, WVMA legal counsel, to learn about legislation proposed in the last session, including bills to legalize the sale of raw milk or ban certain types of research at UW-Madison, to name a few. Jordan also shares insight into the legislative process and the important role that members play.

The Veterinary Examining Board defines professional standards and regulatory policies for veterinarians and veterinary technicians in Wisconsin. However, many license holders don’t understand how the VEB impacts their daily practice and how to stay in compliance.
