The WVMA is bringing back this important continuing education opportunity! If you weren’t able to attend the session last fall, here’s your chance! Drug diversion is a medical and legal concept involving the transfer of any legally prescribed controlled substance from the animal for whom it was prescribed to another person for any illicit use. Instructor Michael M. Miller, MD, DFASAM, DLFAPA, will go over what your role is in recognizing prescription drug abuse among your clients, their employees and your work team.

Dr. Miller is a board-certified general and addiction psychiatrist and is certified in Addiction Medicine by the American Board of Preventive Medicine. A Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and a Distinguished Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM), he is also a director of the American College of Academic Addiction Medicine (ACAAM) and the American Board of Addiction Medicine (ABAM), as well as a past president and board chair of ASAM. In addition, he is a former speaker and director of the Wisconsin Medical Society.

Dr. Miller is currently a clinical instructor in the University of Wisconsin- Madison’s Addiction Medicine fellowship program. He also works as a staff physician with the Drug Court and OWI Court of Rock County, Wisconsin, and is a consultant to AmmonLabs among others.
